Answer
When designing a website, there are some things you should keep an eye on. The majority of your website visitors are in a hurry! Is your site slow, unclear, boring, ugly, they will click away. Try to make your homepage as appealing as possible but don’t forget that streaming audio and / or video, flash movies are fun but can also make your site sluggish.
Before you start, take a look first at other more or less comparable sites. What do they well, what not, don’t be a copycat but there is no need to re-invent things either...
Try to make it not too hard on yourself (especially at the beginning). It’s easy to loose yourself in complex designs. This is extremely frustrating and can result in your site never go beyond the drawing board.
