When I see photos on the Internet than it strikes me that composition often get little attention. Of course, the "Rule of Thirds" is generally used, but composition is much more. Now I do not have a monopoly of wisdom but it really pays of to get on your knees. Or search for an object in the foreground before you capture that beautiful sunset (not dawdle too long because ...).
Try to make a clean photo, be aware that there are no annoying twigs or grass antennae inside your frame. And please, put the horizon right! I get crooked toes of people who make a wonderful framework for their photo but forget to correct the horizon ...
