Answer

Most photographs must be cropped to get the best out of them. Cropping means the removal of redundant space around a particular object or setting. This can be done to make the subject of your photo stand out better or to apply the rule of thirds.

During the shoot you already should try to keep this in mind. Zooming in to far limit the possibilities for later cutting. You can not recall Image information that is not there (anymore). In determining your composition it is something to be reckoned with.
